Job Title: Project Manager: MEP Construction
Location: San Diego, CA
Position Type: Full-time
Travel Required: ~25% (Orange County, Yuma, Etc.)
We are looking to add a Project Manager to our Mechanical Construction team in the San Diego area! The Project Manager will be responsible for controlling labor, costs, timelines, schedules, and quality of entire construction projects. The right candidate will plan and assist in the coordination of the construction process, working with the owner, general contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage project deadlines, milestones and coordination from start to finish
Resolve any issues as they arise, in a timely manner
Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for completion of projects following a logical pattern for utilization of resources
Select and coordinate work of subcontractors working on various phases of projects
Oversee performance of all trade contractors and review architectural and engineering drawings to
make sure that all specifications and regulations are being followed
Actively participate in the coordination planning of materials, labor, and deadlines
Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts
Track and control construction schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of projects within time and monies allocated
Assist in risk management assessments and strategies
Identify areas for development, training, or coaching in coordination with the Project Manager, Foreman, and/or Safety Officer
Conduct annual performance evaluations of direct reports
Oversee safety initiatives in accordance with company strategy, Cal/OSHA, and local compliance agencies in coordination with the company Safety Officer and Human Resources Representative
Responsible for maintaining, tracking, and forecasting gross margins
Must produce RFIs and any costs associated
Prepare, estimate, and submit change orders in a timely manner
Create budget structures along with detail descriptions per cost code
Create schedules of values and monthly billings in a timely manner
Perform weekly job site visits
Mitigate financial impact of unforeseen conditions of a project
Responsible for submittals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree; or craft / trade school plus 10 + years of relevant experience
Knowledge of trade (Sheet metal / Mechanical Piping Systems)
Experience in the MEP construction industry
Working knowledge of safety and compliance issues within the construction industry
Ability to read and interpret sophisticated schematics and design plans
Strong mathematical and problem solving abilities
Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments
Must be a competent writer of business letters, quotations and proposals
Demonstrate understanding of the importance to supply & maintain a positive relationships with our Clients/General Contractors, providing a lasting business partnership
Computer proficiencies in Procore, BlueBeam, and Timberline
Willingness to step in and assist other department with other needs
Ability to read and write English
